Curriculum for Students

Curriculum

Curriculum, derived from Latin currere, "to run", means a course of study.  The curricula, or courses of study, in the Pearl River School District are closely aligned with the New York State Learning Standards.  These are designed collaboratively by faculty and revised regularly to reflect changes in learning standards, student performance, and current research.  Our goal is to provide a framework for learning within and across grades and content from kindergarten through graduation.

NYS Learning Standards and Next Generation Learning Standards

In recent years, the New York State Board of Regents has adopted new learning standards in several content areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and the Arts.  These new standards include shifts in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, as well as more rigorous performance expectations, Kindergarten through graduation.
